Slide effect with directx

Hi, this is my first time in this forum. I don't know if this has been answered many times. I would like to ask this: It is possible to design a slide effect to any image with directx and visual c++ 6?. If that's possible I would like to know just how to do it trough pseudocode (I dont want to be seen as a simple leecher, I really want to learn). That's all I have to ask, for now. Have a nice day.

Yes, it's possible, check out the Special Effects Game Programming with DirectX book for reference but basically you apply some function to a texture and then draw it to a full screen quad.
You can also achieve that through the use of shaders.
