[SlimDX] using GDI drawing along with SlimDX

Is it possible to draw with C#'s/Winform's GDI along with SlimDX? I want to use some of the font drawing functions in my game.

Yes. But how you do so and how effective it will be depends on what exactly you are trying to do.

All I want to do right now is use GDI to draw the fps rate in the upper left hand corner of the window. I am going to wait until I learn more about directX sprites and fonts before I use them in my game.
Right now, I am coding up a frame timing system and I want to know the FPS to see if my system works right.

I have read that if you are using GDI to draw along side DirectX GDI does not know which back buffer to write to and can crash your program. Is this true for SlimDX, and if so what do I have to do in order to avoid crashing my game?
