C++ or C#
These two languages while they share similarities also have allot of differences. Which is better therefore is something that has no solid answer. The task and the context of use for which these 'tools' is used is the important factor. Generally for casual development this comes down to personal preference, personally I find C# a very nice language to work with.
Like one of the quotes on the gamedev main page goes, "C makes it easy to shoot yourself in the foot. With C++, it is much harder to do, but when it happens, it blows your whole damn leg off". Can be applied to the C# vs C++ dilemma as well ;) I personally use C++, but that is just because that's what I started off in. Question of laziness rather than better for me :P
