Hello, I have been quested by my lecturer to find some established methods for bench marking a 3D software renderer. I have been searching all day long and my efforts have been fruitless. I was wondering if anybody here knows any tests that are commonly used when testing a software renderer's capability, and if there is any litriture about it. I'm not normally one to rush people, but a speedy answer will save my butt. Thanks in advance.

It really depends on the type of software renderer, but most generally speaking you probably want to know the texture sampling performance, vertex transformation performance, and triangle setup performance.

What software renderers are you investigating?
