Right now I'm trying to write a .dds (DXT1) loader that I can use to later convert to and save out to a .bmp, and I was just wondering after you load and get the .dds header file, where is the pixel data stored, so that I can access that later to convert to my .bmp. If somebody could point me towards any tutorials or give me an answer, it would be greatly appreciated. I've looked over MSDN, but the documentation can be confusing at times. Thank you.

The simplest solution is to do call D3DXCreateTextureFromFile() to load it and then D3DXSaveTextureToFile() to save it. That will do all the decompression for you.
