How toI read effect instance parameters from xfile

Could somebody tell how to read effect instance parameters from xfile? I want to read the index of technique (value=1) from xfile's EffectInstance block.

  EffectParamFloats {

  }

If you use D3DXLoadMeshFromX, you'll get all of that data in an array via an ID3DXBuffer.
