My philosophy is: If we can understand how to write a texture mapper or a viewing system, we will have that much more of an advantage in using hardware. Furthermore, it will be some time before every computer has good 3D hardware, so we can’t assume it exists, and it would be a bad thing to cut out all those computers from our target market just because they don’t have 3D hardware Especially if we want to get into the game market without millions of dollars—we will start in the value software market, which is primarily non-3D accelerated.
