Questions about texture blending and normal maps.

Hello, I have a couple of questions about texture blending and normal maps. Ok, so I have a texture blend weight in my terrain vertices which blends up to 4 textures. Now I want to apply normal mapping to the terrain. Is it .. A) ok to blend normals of the associated 4 normal maps and use that normal for normal mapping? B) fast/efficient enough to do so? C) going to look acceptable? D) the right procedure to use A? Thank you for your help. Jeremy
