So, does anyone know? Do NOT recommend OGRE 3D cause I can't get that piece of junk working. NOT DX Studio either. I'm going to try Atari's Lite-C game engine right now :)

To use a game engine you need to be a proficient programmer, products such as Game Maker exist to let non-programmers build games. Ogre is a good engine, as is DX Studio, but you need to learn a lot before you will be able to make anything with any engine.

As a graduate student, I admire your ability to avoid doing actual work by waffling over technology choices for weeks on end. As a practical matter, though, you'll find that not much gets done until you pick a damn approach and stick with it.
