Hi, I am fairly new to game design and I am working on a project with a team of four for a game design competition. My question itself does not deal with how to integrate sound into your game via code, but where can we obtain game sounds? Not specifically music, but the sounds of the game. Cannons firing, moving up/down menus, etc. First off we having been using the website soundsnap.com to find sounds we feel fit the game and then slightly editing them. At this time we are not sure if using these pre-fabricated sounds is the correct route. We can't always find a sound that fits the criteria. On a side note I personally do not have a large amount of sound editing experience. Any advice about finding sounds, editing sounds or sounds in general would be greatly appreciated.

RedReaper, I think he mentioned the post was about the "getting" of sounds, not the playing of them.

The litle help I cna offer is:
http://www.freesound.org/packsView.php
and of course, google.

And finally.. have you considered finding a sound designer? There's alwais someone interested to help in a proyect if you look hard enough. Go to your closest local academy of music or whatnot and put some posters up. That's what I did, and it worked.
