Hey everyone, So me and a few guys are going to start this total graphic makeover on a favorite game that alot of people enjoy by replacing the graphics engine. The game we are planning to restore is "Dawn of War", and we are planing to replace it's heavely modified Impossible Creatures engine with the Torque Advance engine. But our problem is that "Dawn of War" uses SCAR coding (Scripting at relic), and we dont know if it will work with the Torque engine. I've looked everywhere for help, but I cant find any on this topic. So can the Torque engine be compadeble with SCAR coding? Thanks for your help!

Compatible nothing. Chances are really good if you do this (and it is likely a copyright violation) you will have to rewrite all the internal systems of the game. Just swapping out the engine isn't an easy task. And the fact that you don't have the source code to the original game makes it a directly impossible one. The best you can do is start over writing the game from scratch using your new engine. But that means redoing all the game logic, and to answer your question, making your own VM to run the SCARs scripts.
There is nothing about the Torque engine that makes it incompatible with SCAR scripts, but it likely doesn't have any built in systems to play back the scripts.

Despite the name, a game engine is nothing at all like a car engine. You can't just swap one out, change a few little things and swap another one in. Think of it more like the foundations of a skyscraper: if you want to replace the foundations, you've got to demolish the whole thing and start over.
