8bpp texture uploading

I''ve got some wierd problem with uploading 8bpp textures.. I call something like this : glTexImage2D(GL_TEXTURE_2D, 0, GL_ALPHA, width, height, 0, GL_ALPHA,GL_UNSIGNED_BYTE, data); this works ok.. (no error here).. but after that program just generates Access Violation.. no matter what is next? Am I calling glTexImage2D with wrong parametrs...??? help any1 -DarkWIng There are more worlds than the one that you hold in your hand...
