Silverlight as UI overlay in DX9 application?

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to find a complete and decently performing UI solution to use in my application. Previously, I was using a Flash overlay, but there were a myriad of crashes that have stopped since I removed that. I prefer not to use something quite as obtuse as CEGUI, certainly a layout editor would be nice. Has anyone successfully used SilverLight in a C++ game? Is the C#->unmanaged C++ interop code a pain?

I am not an expert with C++/CLI, but I have been writing C# for quite a while. I would assume that after using CLI-ports of unmanaged libraries in C# that it can be tedious, but it definately can be done.

On the other hand, I am not entirely sure if CLI allows you to change managed code into unmanaged code but I ?assume? that it goes both ways. Maybe someone can answer that more clearly for you. But your best choice would be to use C++/CLI if it works both ways. I don't know if there is an unmanaged version of Silverlight already written, so you might have to do that yourself.
