I just downloaded a simple sidescroller program from Area52, and I was curious about something. The graphics used in the program are TGA''s, and they contain multiple pictures in the same file, that I guess you can move between to create animation. My question is, why would someone decide to use TGAs rather than BMP files? Couldn''t you do the same thing with both types? --Sketchy

Well its dependent upon what you''re using it for. Sure you could use bitmaps, but for animations and stuff, it would be much more efficient to use .TGA files for their alpha-transparancies in comparison to using bitmaps and masking (which is 10 times slower)
