Khronos has released the spec of OpenCL which is supposed to run on any parallel processing system. OpenCL also defines a C-like language. Is it possible that OpenCL will replace GLSL in the furture?

From its description, it's a CUDA/close to metal replacement, not a shading language. As such, it's not going to replace GLSL, because it's a different thing.

It's surprising to read that AMD and nVidia seem to be willing to support it. That might give it a better chance to actually get an audience.

It would become a industry standard if everyone supports it so why wouldnt amd and nvidia do it? At least people would be able to share resources between GL and CL.
