Suggestions Needed - Map Load / Environment Collision

Hi, I am a C# programmer who is currently planning to do some work on a small project where I will be needing a FPS view with environment collision detection.. its basically roaming around a map. Now.. the designer already has the model in 3ds.. (whole world) What do you suggest I do? Use the whole model, export it to .BSP or .X and make collision detection? Use some World Builder? (where I will be importing relevant objects and construct the rest in the world builder) Are there any samples for this kind of collision detection? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks, Ben.
