If you berate somebody because they don't know the gory details in how the .Net framework garbage collector works or how you should never call frobnicate() on a C++ reference because it causes corruption in the v-table (I'm just making random stuff up for the sake of argument) then, really, that's quite sad that you lay into someone for not understanding something and asking for help. Bombarding them with gory details and tearing them apart for not knowing the gory details in the first place is both unprofessional and unnecessary. Perhaps the person you've just shouted at is an expert in something you've never even thought of doing before? They have one up on you in that regard so don't be so fucking cocky.
I think everybody would agree with you on this, but how often does this actually happen on these forums (outside of religious and political debates in the Lounge)? Perhaps my memory is failing, but I can't think of any cases anywhere near this extreme.
