Elevation in a 2D Iso engine?

Hey All, As some of you may have seen by the link on Isometrix, thanks to Tan''s book and the support at Isometrix I am writing an OpenSource Isometric scroller/shooter in Java right now. Its coming along nicely but I''ve hit a bit of a puzzle. Its something I couldn''t find in Tan''s book. I have a feelign its a topic for his next one, Advanced Isomterics The issue is elevation. I''ve seen iso gamnes that have stairs, platforms and such. I''d like to supprot that but I''m at a bit of a loss as to how they implemented the elevation changes and such. Are there any articles anywahere I could look at about his? Thanks
