Hi I''ve been reading a few threads in this forum mentioning the storage of client data in a SQL server database...ummm HOW best is this done through games?? (ie. are you creating a COM component to talk to your DB, or are you using ADO, ODBC, etc??) Also, are there any "freeware" database servers available that I can download for my server?? (for testing purposes).. thanks for any help, Erik

I use ODBC to connect to my datasources. It is widely used and multithread safe.

As far as freeware databases, MySQL is supposed to be rather cheap on Windows (free on Linux.) They may have a free version for Windows, I just havent checked into it.
