YCoCg textures [ANSWERED]

I had heard that id was using this color space for storing all its texture data, in order to better preserve the quality of said textures when DXT5 compression is used. I was wondering about two details. One, does this color space require gamma correction? Two, how well does it work with hardware texture filtering?
