I had heard that id was using this color space for storing all its texture data, in order to better preserve the quality of said textures when DXT5 compression is used. I was wondering about two details. One, does this color space require gamma correction? Two, how well does it work with hardware texture filtering? Any help or comments would be most appreciated. :) [Edited by - n00body on January 5, 2009 8:35:13 PM]

Short answers are:- no gamma correction and has very slight issues with hardware texture filtering artifacts.

See this iD Software and NVDIA article on YCoCg textures for more details.

I had read the article, and thought that was the case, but I wasn't sure. Thanks for the insight.
