lua_open and lua_dostring depreciated?

So I heard that lua_open and lua_dostring are now depreciated... but what do I use instead? I'm currently not getting an error with lua_open, but with lua_dostring, I get this: error C3861: 'lua_dostring': identifier not found Btw, I'm currently using version 5.1.4 of lua and MSVC++. Any help is much appreciated!!

lua_dostring can be implemented in terms of core functions, so it's not crucial; it's therefore been moved to the auxiliary library, and is named luaL_dostring. lua_open... is not deprecated. It does take one less parameter than it used to... perhaps that's what you're thinking of?
