VB w/ lod

This is my actually methods. I calculate all vertices i need and put them in a vertex buffer wich is never accessed after. Then, depending on the distance, I used some of the vertices in the index buffer w/ D3DUSAGE_DYNAMIC wich is upgraded each frame. Is it good or will it be better to change the VB too in order to having less vertices in it? I mean this VB will be processed w/ the GPU. Why English rules?? C pas très malin tout ça!
