memory issues

i have a fairly medium scale game project that I been working on for a few months now. The game project has about 6-7 sub-projects. The issue that has presented to me is that i have a class derived from a base class, and everytime I add a member variables to this derived class it seems to not allocate enough memory for the class, causing memory being overwritten. The only fix that i have found is to delete all intermediate files (ie clean solution) and re-compile after adding each member variable, but to me it seems to be a much bigger problem than that. Is there a reason why this is happening?

Your dependencies aren't getting updated when they should be. What kind of build system are you using?
