Hi What would be the best format to use nowadays in Direct3D 10. It looks like the X-format has officially died? We use blender to create our meshes. I need to be able to load animated meshes. I don't feel like inventing another standard and write our own export and import routines. Kind regards Alexander

There is no native format for DX10, whatever you pick, you gonna have to extract the raw geometry data and such from the file some way. Use a popular format and get a loader lib for it. Using Collada to manage intermediate assets are also good. In the end thou, final format should be a binary format of your own. When you are ready wit the models just dump them in a binary file for fastest load times. Or pick a format that can save it in binary.

Hi

Thanks for the tip about collada. I don't need extreem performance but tons of customization possibilities. This collada looks perfect for me.

Is their any good c# loader / library available. Any commercials included? Or do I need to make my own. I've noticed that their are 10 "abandoned" loaders allready existing and I don't want to be responsible for "yacl". Yet Another Collada Loader. Although... I allready have a catching name.

kind regards
