.X shaders

Hi, I'm looking for help on materials in DirectX. I import my models in my C# application from a .x file. All applied shaders are lambert. How would I change my material to blinn/phong, and/or how would I read it with C# from the .x file?

I am not sure with managed DX but I believe when you load the .x file into your game it spits back a dxMesh type? if you go into it's guts you find a material object that you can then manual adjust.

to peer into .x files with c# is the same way you open .txt files, just open it and parse it with some sort of file I/O.

and by "shader" do you mean just the materials? or am I missing something important about .x files?
