[java] Using GLCanvas & GLCapabilities without jogl

Is it possible to use GLCanvas & GLCapabilities without having to use jogl? I've written my own OpenGL JNI dll and would like to use that instead of jogl. However, I've been asked if I could modify an existing jogl program to use my dll without having to modify much of the jogl code. The problem I have is I don't know if I can use the existing GLCanvas and GLCapabilities code?

it might be possible but i think you would have an easier time writing a complete opengl binding than to try and use those two classes with your existing DLL. unless of course you have a complete understanding of the inner working of JOGL.

if youre unhappy with certain aspects of JOGL (maybe the speed or the fact that it wants you to code a certain way for example it tries to force the FPSAnimator class down your throat for timing your render cycle amoung many other things) i would recomend giving lwjgl a try. i converted my whole engine from jogl to lwjgl and i never looked back
