Isosurf representation

Hi all! I am new in Isosurf or even graphics. I have done some study on the theoretical part, and it seems to me that it should be pretty easy to represent objects implicitly. But getting into the real programming, I am having a lot of trouble to get started. I am loooking for detailed tutorials, or basic examples for just representing a geometric object. (Cause I have a good example from the Nvidia SDK10, but it uses metaballs, and it's too complex for me on this level). So do you have suggestions of books, websites or anything that I can get to learn from? Many thanks in advance.
