(C++) Cursor resource not loading properly

I made the horrible mistake of learning so much about DirectX that I have never really observed what I was doing with the WinAPI or even know how to use resource files. I know, I'm terrible. Spank me. Anyway, I'm trying to register a WNDCLASS with my own custom cursor that was imported in VS08 and (I believe) loaded correctly. wc.hCursor = LoadCursor(NULL, MAKEINTRESOURCE(IDC_CURSOR1)); The identifier is correct, but when the window shows up I end up with the IDC_CROSS cursor rather than my own. Am I missing anything, obvious or not, that might be forcing the app to fallback on another cursor?
