Which language?
Picking a language. Of the two languages (both are excellent for beginning game programming) suggested in that article my personal preference and recommendation would be Python.
Any language (within reason - there are some strange languages out there) that can accept input and display graphics is fine really though, just pick one and get started.

I personally haven't worked with python, but I agree with the fact that C# is a very good language to start off with.

Again, agreed. don't spend to much time and energy choosing a language. There's no rule saying your not allowed to learn more than one language. Once you've learned the concepts well enough in one language you could go on to learning another.
well i have actually taken a c++ and java class before so i know the basics. im currently more comfortable with java so thats what i was going to try to use. but i have been told that java is not the best choice for game programming. thoughts?
Java is perfectly acceptable, especially if you already know some of it and are comfortable with it.
Java is perfectly capable of producing good quality games, so if you're already familiar and comfortable with it then go right ahead - don't fall into the trap of spending all your time looking for 'the perfect language' when you could actually be working towards making a game - all languages have both advantages and disadvantages, but as long as you choose a well supported language with an appropriate selection of features (Java meets both of those requirements) you'll be just fine.

If you are going with Java you probably want to look at JMonkeyEngine or LWJGL. (You might not want to bother with those for your first game though)
