offscreen rendering

whats the fastest/best way to render to an offscreen buffer? (i.e. for an offline renderer) PBuffers, FBOs or platform specific stuff(PFD_DRAW_TO_BITMAP & GLXPixmap)

FBO for sure, it's the new preferred way.
P-buffers are old, more complicated and has a lot of problems.
The "platform specific stuff" is just plainly unreliable on other platforms.
