D3DDevice's Reset crashes badly

I''ve been using DirectX for quite a while, and this hasn''t happened to me before. Basically, what I''m having a problem with is a fairly simple application, where I have stuff like my objects and vertex buffer in classes, so I don''t have to deal with them directly. I''ve checked the refence count of the vertex buffer before the Reset call, and it is 0. However, then reset is called, and BOOM, the entire system resets. Any idea what might cause something this severe? I have a feeling I''m forgetting something soooo obvious that I just can''t see it.

I have the same problem, though my system doesnt crash because I catch the failure of Reset() and shutdown the game before it explodes.

Make sure your Presentation parameters are still valid when you parse them into ->Reset.

Refer to the SDK Docs sample Donuts3D for Reset() usage, I tried copying the code into my game but it returns a ''D3DERR_NOTRESET'' or something similar..
