depth map shader

hi guys, i'm beginning shader programming, and i try to write a CGFX shader which output the depth map. I tryed this:
half4 depthMap( float4 position : POSITION) : COLOR0 {

 float depth = position.z / position.w ;
 return half4(depth,depth,depth,1);

}

and compile with this:
technique Main {

pass mypass {

  fragmentProgram = compile fp40 depthmap();

}
}

but when i execute my program i get an error like "no valid technique". what am i doing wrong ? thanks in advance.
