Addaptive Blending.....

Hi I like to create a lens-flare effect. And I want to do this with addaptive blending. I created a Offscreen Surface where I loaded my bmp into. I want to add the lensflares after the complete scene is rendered. Now I have to get my RGB datas from the BackBuffer Surface that is also my 3DRender-Target. How I can get the RGB values seperatly from my VideoRAM? These values I want to combine with the RGB values from my Offscreen-Surface. BUT I DONT`T KNOW HOW TO GET THESE VALUES!!!!!
