Portals and Level Editor

Hi, I''m creating an editor for my game engine. It uses BSP and works quite well. The editor is based on a stack of brushes. The point is, I want to use portals (to cull geometry and have some nice fx). How do my editor know which cell a brush belongs to? I mean: I create two rooms and join them with a tunnel. Then I add a portal in the middle of the tunnel. So I''d like to have 2 BSPs, one for each cell. How does the editor know which BSP each face belongs to? Thanx for your help.

Sorry, I posted my question before I studied the FAQ and the articles available on GameDev.net. The article I needed is about Terrain transitions, it solved my problem.
