DirectInput gamepad vibration

Hi. I'm currently building a comprehensive inputmanager for my engine adding support for all manner of inputdevices. Currently I'm working with directinput and forcefeedback, and I was wondering if anyone know how to play vibration effects on gamepads using directinput? I've browsed both MSDN and the web looking for this info but haven't found the info I'm looking for since none of the listed forcefeedback effecttypes seem to be related to vibration. So please, anyone? NOTE. Yes, I know it is easily done with xinput using the 360 controller, and I have already implemented that, but I want support for other gamepads aswell. Thank you.
