Map file format

I have just got my model loader working. So now I can display 3d models. The problem is that I want to place many kinds of different 3D models in the world , place trigger areas for scripts and collision map. The problem is that I don't want to waste time on doing these tools. So is there any kind of "map" file format that is compatible with existing tools like Maya or 3d studio that is easy to load? Preferably in text so it is easy to read under scripting the game.
