How to use transprent texture in d3d7?

How to use transprent texture in d3d7? I have create a surface in 16 bit with 1555 format.Is it Must to set the ALPHABLEND render state to enable to transprent the texture(i mean colorkey),and i am very confuse about alpha test,is it must be used here? thank you

with d3d7, i was just setting the color key of the surface, and
setting the following render states

  
_pipe->d3dDev->SetRenderState(D3DRENDERSTATE_ALPHABLENDENABLE, TRUE);
_pipe->d3dDev->SetRenderState(D3DRENDERSTATE_SRCBLEND, D3DBLEND_SRCALPHA);
_pipe->d3dDev->SetRenderState(D3DRENDERSTATE_DESTBLEND, D3DBLEND_INVSRCALPHA);
_pipe->d3dDev->SetTextureStageState(0, D3DTSS_ALPHAOP, D3DTOP_MODULATE);




... LEMMINGS ... LEMMINGS ... LEMMINGS ... LEM..... SpLaSh!...
