So Who Makes the Most Money?

So what careers make 90k-100k. Software developers?
Within games:
Engineers after 4-5 years of experience.
Producers/Managers after 3-5 years of experience.
Designers after 6-10 years of experience
Business Dudes: straight out of business school
Lawyer Dudes: straight out of law school
But as a piece of life-advice, think of it this way. What do you want to spend 50+ percent of your waking life doing? 50k doing something you love and are excited to go to every day beats the crap out of 100k doing something that makes you want to tear out your eyeballs. IMHO, money is a really lame and often stress/sadness inducing life-goal. Do what you love, not just what pays the best.

I took a 30% base pay cut and a 60% cut on my yearly bonus to work a harder job for 2x the hours because it's infinitely more fun. If that sounds crazy to you, don't go into game development.
Sounds like the story of a few people here where I work (myself included).
They gave up anywhere between 10% and 55% pay to work at a game company because it was more fun and less stressful, even if the hours were sometimes worse.

Oh I see. Yes I love playing and critquing video games and I want to be an innovator in the game industry. So what careers make 90k-100k. Software developers?
Meh.
In software, patent troll is a solid choice for high income. Consultancy is another.
Also, home computer service, which can be done as self-employed pays $100 an hour. Good hours, easy, satisfying work. No, really.
I tend to agree, if you are going into this field because you want to make the big bucks you might wanna turn around you are in for a disappointment. With that said it can pay well, but it depends on your definition of "well". I would be happy with a decent wage as long as I am doing what I love and I won't dread my job because I will be making games, who would? Sounds exciting to me, I am currently getting my BS in Game Software Development and can't wait till I am finished, but I don't expect a great job when I am done, what I expect is an internship which can pay but no likely. It depends on the company you get a job with.
Moving from finance into gaming could mean a pay cut of 60%. Moving from gaming into video games could be a 30% pay cut.
If you're choosing a career just for money's sake, then choose a business-jerk career.

So what are the other careers that pertain to the field of Computer Science that make a hefty salary?

Again, wrong question. Software developers don't tend to make the same as many other fields, they also tend to have to work worse hours (in all fields), and many states have strange laws that will prevent you from claiming overtime (California for instance).
Furthermore, if you enter the field based on "making lots of money" ideas you'll be a shitty developer, get poor reviews, won't be selected for promotions, and will most likely be the first person cut when the company down sizes :).
Also, The Daily WTF is not a prime example of the general skill level out there for developers, it is the exception, not the rule.

I wouldn't worry about salary honestly. If you're going into a technology environment you're not going to be hurting for cash or making minimum work. It's a skilled job market.
