I have a friend that bought "Game programming Kit 2.0" hes never used it and is willing to sell it to me. It comes with Microsoft Visual C++ 4.0 So I was wondering, what do yall think? Should i buy it? Hes selling it for $12.95 So I was wondering is there any major differennces between MSVC++ 4.0 and 6.0 Will 4.0 work with DirectX 8.0 SDK?

Visual C++ 4.0 doesn''t have IntelliSense (that tooltip that pops up with class members, function parameters, etc). Get MSVC 6.0. A student license is under $50. Search around, you might get it for much cheaper.

Visual C++ 4 doesn''t have very good template support at all. And I don''t think it includes the STL, which is a useful library to have.
