Drawing *pixels* on the screen...
Okay, a strange question I guess... I want to try to create my own graphic engine, not based on DirectX or OpenGL. I only have one minor little problem...
For some odd reason, I can''t find a way to get my pixels on the screen... I guess I''d need an seperate API for it, but can anyone recommend one? I tried SDL, but it doesn''t work... Gives a strange error.
Any other good API''s out there?
SDL is pretty easy to set up, if you follow the instructions. You could perhaps use a search engine and look for ClanLib, or CDX, or Allegro, or LibCon, or OpenPTC, or just look for ''graphics libraries''.
Aye, I followed instructions, but I keep getting a faulty SDLmain.lib.
Can you send me your copy of that file?

Of course you can also use DirectX, and put the pixels directly in the memory, as we''ve done before with DOS. There are no reasons to use any extra library, if you really want to do the things by hand.

SDL uses DirectX on windows. Try clanlib. Writing your own libs that directly access the hardware is an exercise in futility.
