Is there any place where I can download free, non-copyrighted sounds off the Internet? Are there any free programs to create/record/alter your own sounds? Lalle

You could search for them via a search engine (altavista) using keywords ''wav'' and ''samples''.

Or better still, go to www.scene.org to download their collection (I think they are free for use) or follow the links on their links page.

A popular program for actually making sounds from scratch is Sonic Foundry (I think that''s what it was...). A great program for making music (techno and otherwise) and sound effects editing/mastering is FruityLoops, which, on a side note, only costs $50 dollars.

Remember - Hard work pays off in the long run, but laziness pays off immediately.
