You'll have to hunt around a bit for what you want, if it's in there. He goes over a lot of things.
Are you concerned with the mechanics of going from zero-G into the grav field of a planet then I would look up Newton mechanics in a physics textbook [grin]

If you are after the graphical effect of entering an atmosphere from space then I would recommend using Google for some papers on "atmosphere rendering". Anyway, the best place to start looking for such topics is always vterrain.org:
