XNA Particle Editor...where to start?

Does anyone know of some good tutorials or reference information about particle systems in XNA or Particle Systems in general? I have been tasked with building a particle editor for a 2d game in xna and really have no idea where to start. I guess some generic information about particle systems would be a good starting point.

Definitely start with the particle samples on the Creator's Club website, they're pretty good. I also know that a few people have made particle editors with XNA...if you search around on Google you should be able to find one or two that you can look at for ideas.
Gamasutra.com also has some old but good articles on particle systems.
