I am after some freeware background images to put on my background. I am after houses, fences or grass,tress,water etc.

If you look at josh1billion's link, you will see many pictures of houses and such which do not quite technically qualify as textures. You should therefore, as suggested above, look for textures to find what you need.

yes the backgrounds here are not bad and so are the items.

Hi,
Can I use sprites from the metal slug sprites site for my games with breaching copyright.
I dont want to put my stuff on the net and get an email saying take the site down as you used artwork without permission.

It seems that all those sprites are lifted from the Metal Slug series of games, which would mean that that website is distributing them without permission. There is no notice about copyright or licensing or anything else to indicate otherwise. To be on the safe side, it would be best not to use them.
