The Need foe Speed

Alright, I'm debating on which way to approach the mousemap situation on my isometric engine. Since the engine has slopes, there are a total of twenty different tile shapes with each tile shape needing a mousemap. Should I have a massive array to store the mousemap info or should I just call it on the fly from a bitmap? Any suggestions would help.
