iPhone game dev ...
This probably belongs in the help wanted section, so if you want to move it feel free. I saw some other posts in this forum asking for help though.
Anyways, I'm looking maybe to pair up with a iPhone game dev, in order to bring some stories I've written to iPhone in the form of some games. Nothing to hard I imagine (no 3D). I would really like an overhead RPG (akin to SNES-style Final Fantasy or Chrono Trigger) engine, to bring 3 of my major stories to life (one of which is a trilogy with the possibility of a quadrilogy). I would also love a side-scrolling action RPG, a mix of a Mario Bros. platformer and a hack/slash like Maple Story (without all that MMO mumbo-jumbo). That would only be for 1 story, so it's not the most important.
I've made some simple games in Flash in the past, but really want to focus on the stories and artwork on these projects, and be able to work on these on my schedule.
I think there's alot of people who would love to see something like RPGmaker for the iPhone, but that's just me. I'm willing to pay for the work, but would prefer more of a barter situation (like say a macbook for an engine or something) as opposed to straight cash, because I'm not made of money. I'm just simple artist with some stories to tell.
You can email me at thebrunger at yahoo dot com if you'd be interested in helping me. I don't really check this site often so email is best as opposed to pm'ing me.
I would be interested... but i am quite sure there already are people working on an RPG engine for the iPhone - so while this might sound like a good idea, it wont be a money spinner. Besides, what are your plans to market the engine once it is ready? Who is your target audience, how much will you charge for the RPGt engine, and what size do you preceive your market to be on a year-on-year basis?
I have actually been chatting off-site with a guy who seems interested in the task ... We have been discussing ways to use the microtransactions feature of the upcoming iPhone OS 3.0. The idea came up to divide an entire game into lots of mini episodes and sell games as $1/episode. I'm not really sure what the scope and target audience will be. Since the other guy is writing the engine, I'm gonna let him worry about how he will make money off his engine, through whatever licensing means he wants to. I just want to tell my story I wrote and was asking for a delivery platform. I am providing him with lots of feedback/ideas and am gonna let him use the graphics I make in his games.
