I need to convert a video file into a format that Flash can cope with. So far I've tried FLV with VH FLV Writer (which works fine in a standalone player but displays at about 3fps in Flash and doesn't seek), Riva FLV Encoder (which just crashed) and Free iPod Video Converter (which produced an MP4 that displays fine in a standalone player, but only plays the sound in Flash). Does anyone know of a (free) way to convert a video file (which can be in WMV, AVI, OGM, MKV, all of which I have software to handle) into one that Flash will cope with? Edit: SUPER © seems to do the trick, if you force it to run as administrator. [Edited by - benryves on May 18, 2009 12:54:10 PM]

Try ffmpeg. It's free, FOSS and does the job very well. No idea if it runs on Windows (or if you need it to) though.
