SDL_mixer volume issue

Hello! I'm using SDL_mixer to play music & sounds in a same time. On Windows Vista, I'm expecting a volume issue: when music is playing and its volume is set, say, to 40, then channel sound is being played not louder than 40, even if SDL_Volume is set to bigger value. SDL_mixer is 1.2.8, i.e. the latest one. Has anybody facing the same issue? Is it possible to avoid it?
