how to get the hierachy of one object created by 3DMAX OR MAYA

I am not sure whether my question is reasonable to post here. I have tree object created by 3dsMax and MAYA, and I want to get the hierachy of every branch.Is the following requirement possilbe? (1) For one branch, i want to know who is its parent branch and what the transform matrix relative to its parent. (2) what the radius of one branch. Thank you.
